Environmental Fellowship Program
Overview:
The Environmental Studies program offers fellowships that place ES majors and prospective majors in stipended summer internships or research experiences. These fellowships provide funding for students to explore careers in the environmental field by pursuing a placement with a Maine based organization (Maine-Based Fellowship), or by conducting community based research under the mentorship of an ES faculty member (Cooke Environmental Research Fellowship). Environmental Studies Fellows play a key role in the program by connecting the Environmental Studies program to organizations in Maine and beyond.
Hours:
The Maine-Based Fellowships are 10 weeks in length. Please note that fellows are expected to work forty hours per week and cannot be employed by Bowdoin College in any other capacity during the fellowship. The Cooke Environmental Research Fellowships can be between 8-10 weeks in length.
Payment and Housing:
The Maine Based Fellowship pays $6,000 for 10 weeks, with an additional $1,000 expenses supplement for students on aid. Although housing is not included, fellows are eligible for on campus housing at a cost of $80 per week. The Cooke Environmental Research Fellowship provides a stipend of $590 per week for a period of 8-10 weeks. Students receive campus housing as part of their fellowship award.
